Here we are in Cancer season and here is its ruling card, the Chariot – wheeling in with another two Majors, the first time that’s happened for a while in a weekly reading. Big energy in the wake of the Solstice and the official start of summer.
What should be on our minds these next seven days? Well, the Chariot is a card of movement. Literal travel yes, sometimes, but also consider the metaphorical meaning of a vehicle. Our own person is a vehicle – mind and body harnessed to take us where we want to go, careful driving required to avoid crashing. Are we in control of where we’re heading this week?
I think the metaphorical vehicle is apt due to the remainder of the reading. The Hierophant’s primary role, Pamela Eakins suggests, is to illuminate – from within, of course, channeling our inner wisdom, or as Eakins puts it, to become both student and teacher.
The Star, on the other hand, represents a more universal kind of illumination: truth, hope, the interconnectedness of all things. As above, so below.
I’m not suggesting this all means we’re heading for some kind of grand spiritual epiphany this week. I’m more interested in the dualities we see represented in each of these cards. I think it suggests that in order not to lose sight of our way – or control of our vehicle – we must be careful to keep a balance between the dual aspects of our nature this week.
Go after what you want, but not at breakneck speed. Do what you feel called to, but don’t ignore wise advice. Daydream a little, let your head float up to the clouds, but keep your feet firmly on the ground. If you can do that, that’s a good start to summer.
Have a good week and stay safe x
