At the heart of close relationships, a shared vision of the future is one of the foundations of intimacy. One of the biggest challenges to sustaining such a vision is when tensions, miscommunications and opposing forces – be they internal or external – disrupt our balance. These are the times when we need to pick our battles, or sometimes simply refuse to show up for conflicts where there is nothing to be gained but further antagonism. Waiting things out until clarity returns is a valid strategy! This week, we would do well to consider what our close relationships need, and if the answer is some perspective – step back and allow it to come.
